Esplin adjourned the meeting.
Sergott said he thinks public comment time has been out of control for the past few meetings. He said the public should say what they need to in the time designated at the beginning of the meeting.
The senate has moved into comments and announcements.
Lee and Esplin are working to produce a senate newsletter.
The senate considered a resolution recognizing Chancellor Rogers, the head of the Board of Regents, for his work in fighting against budget cuts in higher education.
The senate voted to refer the resolution to the public affairs committee and will discuss the resolution at a later date.
The senate unanimously voted to pass the bill, giving the accounting office $12,439.
Reilly said the ASUN accounting office, which houses thousands of credit card numbers, is not secure. The bill would give $12,439 to the office to install a metal roll up door to replace the glass window and remove the existing door to the room and install a dutch door in its place.
Esplin moved the bill to second reading without suspending the rules because it already went through committee and was listed incorrectly.
The senate is now discussing the option to suspend the rules to move a bill about capital expenditures for the ASUN accounting office from first reading to second reading on the agenda.
The senate voted to assign senators to committees as follows:
