Sandy Rodriguez, director of the Associated Students of the University of Nevada, echoed Sen. Sean McDonald’s feelings that senators didn’t debate the compensation bill enough.
She said she feels the senate is either giving a “stamp of approval” or pushing bills they don’t like back to committee.
“It’s OK to debate things,” she said.
During public comment, Sen. Sean McDonald expressed his disappointment that more senators didn’t discuss the pay rates for student senators and other officials more when the bill came before senate.
Sen. Kyle Rea said he will propose an amendment to the 37-page bill defining the processes of the judicial branch. He said his amendment will make the judicial council create a summary sheet for any students wanting to file a suit.
After a brief recess, the senate will be reading a 37-page bill defining the rules of procedure for the judicial council.

The senate adopted the bill regulating the pay for government officials with an amendment making their pay proportional to the amount of time served in office.
They had also decided to send the decision on how much to pay members of the elections commission back to committee.
The senate is debating how much to pay chair of the commission on association elections and the other members.
The bill to regulate the pay for the student government president, vice president, speaker of the senate, senators, director of clubs and organizations, director of programming and the justices passed through the Senate.

The senate is looking at a bill to fix the salaries of some government officials.
The total compensation will be for:
- Student president: a total of $8,800 a year, paid in $800 per semester and $600 a month.
- Vice president, speaker of the senate, director of programming, director of clubs and organizations: a total of $7,000 [...]
The senate voted to approve the bill regulating the time and manner of administering certain oaths. The bill includes the oaths all student government officials will take when they step into office and that current officials will take within two weeks of student president Sarah Ragsdale signs the oath bill into law.

Sen. Sean McDonald proposed an amendment to the oath bill allowing student government officials who can’t make the senate meeting where the oath is taken to take the oath from a notary. It passed unanimously.
