The senate is looking at the new oath of office for the student government officials.

The senators are debating whether there should be a deadline for taking the oath. All governement officials — senators, executive officers and student justices — must take and sign the oath within a week of the oath passing. Otherwise they are suspended from office. The oaths will happen at the senate meeting.

Sen. Taylor Anderson called the deadline the “teeth” of the bill. Sen. Michael Cabrera said the short deadline can pose a problem for non-senators who have class during the senate meetings.
