The senate unanimously approved S.B. 75-48, which establishes the succession of the office of the ASUN presidency. The bill also regulates how the president and vice president should resign from office.

The senate voted to place a question on the 2008 ASUN election that would allow students to vote on increasing senators’ compensation. The question will read, “Shall the Senate of the Associated Students be granted the authority to fix by law the compensation of Senators at a maximum of a $500 grant per semester in addition [...]

The senate is currently discussing a resolution to increase the compensation for student senators.

6:44 p.m.


The senate unanimously voted to censure Sen. Jeremiah Todd for violating the Nevada Open Meeting Law. Sen. Michael Cabrera chose to abstain from the vote.

The senate is now considering a bill to censure Todd for violating the Nevada Open Meeting Law.

After extensive discussion about Todd’s violation of the Nevada Open Meeting Law during winter break, the senate’s vote was split 7-7 on expelling Todd from office. The senate voted to first discuss S.B. 75-49, which would expel Sen. Todd from office.

23 students are now in the audience, with 15 members from Lambda Chi present. Sen. Sean McDonald addressed the audience to talk about the senate “not doing anything for students.” He listed  a number of bills the senate passed last week after a number of students criticized the senate for wasting fees. Eighteen students are in the audience for today’s senate meeting, with 12 students from Lambda Chi Alpha. Three students spoke in favor of Sen. Jeremiah Todd. The senate will be voting on expelling Todd from office for violating the Nevada Open Meeting Law. Getchell, student union
